Protecting: Our Direct Support for Members

No Justification for Abuse

There is no justification for a member being harassed or obstructed by their own cooperative. Likewise, there is no reason for a member to waive their rights. Taking action is not just a right, but a duty to oneself and to the proper functioning of the cooperative model, which enjoys enormous advantages throughout Europe precisely because of its mutualistic, non-speculative nature.

Asserting your rights has two fundamental meanings. On the one hand, it means re-establishing the proper balance of power by reminding the Board of Directors that the cooperative belongs to its members, not the other way around. On the other hand, it can mean obtaining fair compensation for damages suffered as a result of negligent or abusive management.

The "Protecting" section is the operational heart of the OETC, the tool we have created to transform this legitimate demand for justice into strategic, concrete action.

We understand that every situation is different and requires a distinct approach. That is why we offer two ways to contact us:

The Listening Channel: Your Report, Your Choice

  • If you simply wish to bring a situation of potential abuse or mismanagement to our attention without exposing yourself, you can use our anonymous reporting channel. Your information is valuable: it will be analyzed and, if verified, will help populate our Register (REGC), but your identity will remain fully protected, and you will not be contacted.

  • If you need direct intervention and concrete help, the first step is to become an OETC member. Membership unlocks full access to our protection system : you can share your case information and documentation with us to activate our legal triage, access our network of experts, and benefit from our full strategic support.

Personalized Evaluation: Technology and Human Oversight

Each case is unique and deserves specific attention. When an OETC member requests our support, we activate an evaluation process that combines technological efficiency with human sensitivity.

  • We analyze each case individually. We do not use standardized protocols; instead, we assess the specifics of your situation to build the most effective support strategy.

  • We leverage our artificial intelligence platforms to rapidly analyze documentation, identify critical points, and compare your case with European case law. This allows us to be faster, more precise, and to reduce the costs of analysis.

  • Technology is a tool, not a substitute. Behind every analysis and every decision, there is always the oversight of one of our human experts. This is our guarantee that every evaluation considers not only the legal aspects but also the context and human implications of your case.

Your Security: Our Top Priority

We know that reporting abuse can expose you to risks and pressure. That is why protecting your data is the foundation of everything we do. The OETC, by its very nature and its headquarters, incorporates the highest standards of security and confidentiality at all levels to protect members from any form of reprisal. Every piece of information you share with us is treated with the utmost confidentiality and protected by advanced security protocols.

The Consequences for Cooperatives

An Action That Leaves a Trace

Our protective action is not limited to supporting individual members. Every verified report has direct and concrete consequences for the cooperative concerned, transforming an individual action into a potential benefit for the entire membership base.

When a report is confirmed following our analysis, the cooperative and its directors are entered into our European Register of Cooperative Governance (REGC). This registration is not a formal act, but the activation of a powerful monitoring and accountability tool. Given that in a cooperative all members are equal, a verified and sanctioned abuse to the detriment of a single member can set a fundamental precedent. The REGC keeps track of these critical issues, creating the grounds for potential multiple class actions by other members who have suffered the same harm.

Furthermore, following a particularly significant report, the OETC may decide to launch targeted communication actions aimed at all other members of the cooperative in question. The objective is twofold: to encourage the emergence of other critical situations and, more broadly, to remind each member of their rights and oversight powers.

The objective of these actions is constructive:  to act as a powerful deterrent against future abuses, to push cooperatives towards full legal compliance, and, above all, to rebalance the power dynamic to protect the legitimate rights of all members.
