Faced with opaque governance or decisions that seem unfair, a member can quickly feel isolated and powerless. The statutes are complex, internal procedures are discouraging, and the fear of reprisal is often real.
It is for these moments that the OETC exists: an independent association with a European vocation, which documents how cooperatives work, explains their rights to members and brings these questions before the institutions.
Our Strategy: Prevent, Protect, Progress
Transparency is not achieved merely by intervening in problems, but by building a widespread culture of accountability. This is why the OETC's action is based on an integrated strategy that operates on three complementary and synergistic levels: preventing abuse before it occurs, informing members when their rights are disregarded, and advancing the entire European cooperative system towards higher standards.

PREVENTING: Education and Knowledge
We believe that an informed member is the first and most effective defense against mismanagement. We provide guides, analyses, and training tools to make every member aware of their rights and the mechanisms of governance.

PROTECTING: information first
When a right is disregarded, information is the first protection: we publish guides and general analyses so that every member knows what the law and the statutes provide, and whom to turn to. The OETC does not handle individual situations.

PROGRESSING: Advocacy and Institutional Dialogue
We turn members' questions into a driving force for systemic change. We gather data, address the European institutions and use our voice to promote legislative reforms and a culture of transparency at the continental level.
We analyse the facts from public sources. We bring members' voices before the institutions. We explain our methods and correct our mistakes.
